The Music and The MadDness

A first for Triangle Black Pride |  Music, Comedy and Open Mic

The Music and The MadDness is a show-stopping performance that combines the side-splitting comedy of top comedians Happy Cole, of Comic Strip Live, Percy Crews II of BET’s Comic View, openly gay comedian Sampson McCormick along with the soulful Motown Tribute of singer Marcus Anthony who opened for Patti LaBelle.

Sampson a North Carolina Native (Evergreen, NC) currently resides in Washington, DC  and shares that his first standup routine came in fifth grade where he poked fun of the teachers, talking about the school’s lunch, spoiled milk, and O.J. Simpson (Metroweekly, 2011). His comic calling continued with his shows,” Don’t Make Me Take Off My Earrings” and “Catch It, Bitch!” He has also shared stages with Kate Clinton and Karen William.

Cole, Crews and McCormick will have you laughing so hard that buckets of tears will pour from your eyes. While Anthony will have you bopping in your seats as you clap and sing along to all your Motown favorites. The Music and The MaddNess provides a night of nonstop entertainment bang for your buck.

The event will be cohosted by Maurice Jamal, of the Ski Trip and President of GLO TV and Uriah Bell, activist, author and founder of Rising Voices Press and Truth Magazine.

Also scheduled to appear is Red Summer, a multifaceted poet, performance artist, activist, filmmaker, writer and publisher who has made a career of speaking up and speaking out. She hails from Chicago’s South side where she was able to hone her talent with organizations such as POW WOW and Young Chicago Authors. She’s was listed among the top twelve poets in the world as designated by the Women of the World Poetry Slam and has prevailed in numerous dramatic and poetic competitions. Red Summer’s performance covers a range of emotions as she poetically describes incidents of injustice, complexities of relationships and the joys of life.
